Trauma Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery Department
Welcome to the pages of the Trauma Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery Department of the Berufsgenossenschaftlichen Unfallklinik Frankfurt am Main.
Apart from the emergency medical and injury type procedures of the trade associations (the statutory accident insurance carriers), our full scope of services is also available to privately and statutory insured patients.
As a supraregional, highly qualified trauma center, we treat patients with recent injuries and all kinds of serious complications, as well as patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
In accordance with the mission of a maximum care trauma surgery hospital, we are equipped with all personnel, instrument and surgical-technical resources in order to provide comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation to patients who have been injured in accidents. It is our understanding that modern trauma surgery begins at the place of the accident and ends with the patient’s reintegration into his/her family and profession.
Trauma surgery uses the most advanced surgical and osteosynthesis techniques such as fixed-angle, minimally invasive, endoscopy-supported and microsurgical techniques, as well as computer-aided planning and navigated operations to increase the precision of the surgical interventions by several factors.
Treatments offered
The treatments offered are the care of seriously injured patients with complex injury patterns, fractures and fractured joints. These include complex reconstructive and correcting interventions in the absence of bone healing (pseudoarthrosis), axial and rotational malpositions or joint damages, such as bone replacement, soft tissue grafting or bone-cartilage transplants, for example.
In addition, we carry out all types of joint replacement operations (endoprostheses) of the hip, knee and shoulder joints, not only after injury or wear and tear, but also comprehensive and highly complex revision operations for exchanging endoprostheses. The small surgical incision techniques (MIS) applied protect the patient’s soft tissue.
Our close cooperation with the departments of sports orthopedics/knee and shoulder surgery, orthopedic and trauma foot surgery, and hand /reconstructive plastic surgery allow us to master the entire spectrum of arthroscopic or open interventions done in the hip, knee, ankle, elbow and hand joints.
You can access our treatment by scheduling numerous
special consultations.
The Emergency Outpatient Clinic treats all kinds of recent injuries and is open 24 hours a day.
The Berufsgenossenschaftlichen Unfallklinik Frankfurt am Main is linked to rescue operations on the one hand through the "NEF"
emergency doctor vehicle
and on the other hand, through the "Christoph 2"
rescue helicopter.
They guarantee the fastest possible care at the scene of the accident and the safe transport to the follow-up medical treatment facility. The close collaboration and joint continuous education with the rescue teams of the Frankfurt Fire Department ensures the uniform high quality of preliminary clinical emergency medicine.
Our Physical, Sports and Ergotherapy Department ensures the highest quality standard in the adequate treatment of suffered injuries and complications from accidents. Consistent rehabilitation is of decisive importance for long-term therapeutic success and for the quick recovery of job skills and independent living. This concept in particular has been consistently implemented in our department, especially for the trade association’s inpatient follow-up treatment (BGSW).
In this context, occupational assistants and social workers offer close and up-to-date contact to the trade associations and the subsequent rehabilitation facilities.
Comprehensive inpatient care is rounded off by numerous outpatient treatment possibilities.
